What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is the art of deep transformative rest. The practice guides participants into a state of consciousness that is neither asleep nor awake, where the busy analytical mind can retreat or move aside for a while, allowing subconscious patterns to emerge, to be seen, processed and integrated.
In a world where we just don’t give ourselves time to rest or simply be, Yoga Nidra is an act of radical self love, self care.
The deepest and loudest Delta brainwaves (0.1-4Hz) can be accessed during Nidra which is a state of being usually detected during sleep or meditation. These Delta waves created during Yoga Nidra can be recognised as a form of ‘Conscious Delta’. Healing and regenerative, these brainwaves are essential to our wellbeing so whatever your motivation for practicing Yoga Nidra, you will feel the benefits on all levels of your being.
Benefits
Some participants attend Nidra classes with the intention to deepen their meditation; some with the need for deep restorative rest due to illness, or during a period of convalescence. Some come to heal or process trauma and stress related illness, others simply to unwind and relax. Whatever your goals, regular practice of Yoga Nidra is being recognised as effective in assisting the healing process from many different illnesses and conditions such as High Blood Pressure / Hypertension, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Insomnia and many more.
Blessed be and may the spirit of Nidra Shakti hold you in the palm of her hand and gently sooth you back into compassionate awareness for self and others.
